A NEW food and drink festival which showcased more than 40 businesses has been hailed a huge success.

The inaugural Taste of Nairn took place in the coastal town over three days. Businesses and organisations throughout the town and beyond rallied together to create the festival which it is hoped will take place again next year.

The event was organised by Nairn Business Improvement District (BID) with support from local marketing firm Claire Doughty Publicity.

“We are thrilled,” said Claire Doughty. “It was fabulous to have so many different types of events and offers, so there was something for everyone.

“There is always room for improvement and we’ll be meeting with the BID members and those who got involved to see what we can do better next time.”

The World Tattie Scone Competition was among the attractions. Paul Douglas, manager of the King Street Co-op in Nairn, wowed the judges with his “Scottish Scone” which featured caramelised red onion.
