Pupils at an Inverness dance school are reaching greater heights thanks to a funding boost.

The Step ‘n’ Style dance school in Smithton, which teaches disco freestyle, slow dance, rock’n’roll and street dance to young people aged three to 17 and has recently started a dance fitness class for adults, has been awarded £2000 by the National Lottery.

It will be put towards the purchase of equipment including mats and stretching blocks.

The school’s owner Nicky Mackay Barclay said: “It’s absolutely brilliant. We constantly fundraise to support our dancers, so this help is really great news for us.

Regularly travelling around the country to take part in different competitions pupils will be in Nottingham in two weeks time.

Shortly afterwards they will head to the Skegness Freestyle Championships where they will be hoping to repeat last year’s impressive performance which saw students lift a collective total of 84 medals and trophies.
