AROUND £4700 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Research as a Ladies’ Do made a successful comeback.

More than 150 women took the chance to dress up and spoil themselves at the Kingsmills Hotel, where they enjoyed a “Ritz-style” afternoon tea, pamper sessions and plenty of prosecco.

Julie Bell, head of the fundraising group, said: “Following very successful Ladies’ Do events in 2016 and 2017, we were unable to hold the event last year because of some logistical challenges.

“Every Ladies’ Do ticket we sell (£28) could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for an hour – it’s wonderful that we can have such an impact on the lives of people that are living with cancer.”
