Emergency services have closed a road in the Merkinch area of Inverness, following what is understood to be a serious incident at around 7.30pm on June 1.

The Inverness Courier has been told by local sources about the incident, but has asked for confirmation from police.

Rumours are also circulating on social media.

At least six police cars and ambulances are at the scene and part of Craigton Avenue has been blocked off.

Police Scotland has been asked to comment.
