OLD vehicles and those which belch out the highest levels of dangerous fumes should be banned from Academy Street, according to environmental campaigners.

The suggestion from Friends of the Earth Scotland (FOE) comes just days after it revealed the road is the fourth most polluted in Scotland.

The organisation says traffic is to blame, and one way to solve the problem would be to make the area a Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
