A WARD at Raigmore Hospital is expected to remain closed to new admissions for the rest of the week due to several patients with symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting.

Ward 2A closed on Friday, with staff contacting relatives of patients there to discuss visiting arrangements.

A spokeswoman for NHS Highland said: “We still have patients who have active symptoms. We need patients to be symptom-free for 48 hours before we can look to start deep cleaning the ward, so ward 2A is still closed and that will likely be the case for the rest of this week.

“We would ask that if anyone has symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting or flu they refrain from visiting hospital or care home settings until they are recovered.”
