AN Inverness hotel doorman who is being cared for by staff at Highland Hospice has inspired his friends and co-workers to raise more than £1800 for the charity.
Charlie Murray, who began working at the Drumossie Hotel in 1995, and his team have managed to raise an amazing £1854.
The total includes more than £400 donated to the hospice’s 555 Challenge and a hospice spokeswoman said: “You can take part too by running, cycling, walking or running 5km, donating £5, and nominating five friends to do the same.”
Mr Murray is a long-standing member of the hotel team and his workmates are all committed to raising money because of the tremendous care he is receiving.
He said he was “forever grateful” for the kindness and care he receives from the nurses and staff at the hospice. The team there have even created a temporary sign for the “Macdonald Drumossie Suite”.
The former purser on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines said: “My time at the hotel allowed me to meet a very mixed collection of exceptionally interesting and fascinating people who could ‘spin a good yarn’ and ‘get the craic going’.”
