Nairn Angling Association president made honorary member on his 70th birthday
NAIRN Angling association announced a new honorary member recently.
President Willie Barron (pictured, centre) was made an honorary member in recognition of his angling career.
On his 70th birthday, Mr Barron was presented with the title after 60 years fishing on the River Nairn.
He was gifted a painting by artist Gordon Rennie of the Whinnieknowe Pool on the River Nairn, which was presented by committee member James Dunbar .
Alan Mcgowan, treasurer at the association, said: “Willie is a great ambassador, always willing to give advice to the locals and to visitors with tips and the best spots to find the fish, and with plenty of encouragement to the youngsters which he felt was always important for the future of the association. He is also involved in the river bank improvements scheme who regularly check and do maintenance on the river.”
The presentation to Mr Barron was made by vice president Billy Milne.
