Inverness homeless man ‘intended to supply cocaine’
Police were called to an Inverness housing estate following a report of a man lying on a grassy area who appeared to be under the influence.
When officers arrived at Ashton Crescent on April 22 they found Bulgarian national Alexander Naydenov (29) was intoxicated and they searched him for drugs.
Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told Sheriff Robert Frazer that seven wraps of cocaine were found in his possession, with a maximum street value of £700. A mobile phone and £200 in cash were also seized.
Defending, Graham Mann said his client, who admitted possessing the narcotic with intent to supply it, had been staying with a friend in Inverness, but that was no longer the case.
He added: "He is homeless and sleeping rough. He had only been in Inverness for a few days. He has family and children and he intends returning there as soon as he can."
Sheriff Frazer was puzzled by the mystery man who had been initially in London and then appeared in Inverness.
He decided he wanted to know more about him and deferred sentence until this Friday for social workers to interview him and report back.
Naydenov was again remanded in custody.
