Hilton fear as police probe car attacks

AN INVERNESS oil worker has put up a £500 reward for information leading to the identification of whoever caused thousands of pounds of damage to his BMW and left his girlfriend in a state of fear and alarm.

Kailee Peden (31) was using her boyfriend Steven Davidson’s car at the weekend when it was the target of a sustained attack with a sharp implement. It was parked overnight in Oldtown Road, Hilton – on the same street where a pensioner fears there is a vendetta against her, after her beloved car was set on fire.

Both incidents happened last Sunday into Monday morning.

Ms Peden said: “It is just so worrying. Steven stays in Lochalsh Road in Dalneigh and nothing has ever happened to his car.

“When I parked it on Sunday night the car park was about full, and when I came out in the morning, it was the only one that was vandalised. It looks like that car was targeted and I am very concerned.

“My boyfriend is gutted and is offering a reward to try and catch whoever did this.

“The police told me that it looked like they took their time over it and it was quite a sustained attack, which is also concerning.”

Mr Davidson (35) posted on Facebook: “A £500 reward will be given to anyone that has positive proof of who did this.

“It needs to be 100 per cent the person, but even if you heard of something or someone doing it, let me know and I’ll do my digging.

He added: “Someone must know something. It looks like it was more than one person and certainly wasn’t kids.

“I am gutted to be honest and more upset that Kailee had to find the car with the kids.

“That’s what hurts more. Now she is panicking they might attack her house”

Meanwhile, Inverness police are seeking witnesses after Hilda Gordon’s red Corsa was burned out at her house in Oldtown Road leaving her in fear that she is the victim of a sinister vendetta.

Three weeks earlier the tyres on her car were slashed outside her house.

The little Corsa has great sentimental value to Mrs Gordon as it was the last gift from husband Alasdair three years ago before he died a month later.

The great-grandmother and retired cleaner said: “Someone is behind this. I was told by a fireman that it was unlikely to have been an electrical fault.”

She added: “I’m so hurt by this, and it was only three weeks ago the tyres were slashed. Someone is at it.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to both incidents, and wants to hear from anyone who say anything suspicious in the early hours of Monday.
