Inverness and the rest of Scotland braced for heatwave next week – forecasters have predicted that temperatures in the Highlands will be around 30c

Weather forecasters are predicting record temperatures next week with the maximum Scottish temperature of 32.9c could be exceeded on Tuesday.

It has been predicted that temperatures of 30c could be reached in Inverness and Highlands and Islands Weather shared the news via social media.

In a post a spokesman said: "The all time Scottish maximum temperature record could be under threat on Tuesday if this run by the GFS was to verify. 32.9c to beat."
