Survey finds Highlanders drink less alcohol than anywhere else in Scotland

A survey has revealed that people in the Highlands drink less than anywhere else in Scotland.

Drinking only 3.4 units per week, the area is tied with Moray, Midlothian, North Ayrshire and Angus.

Health service provider Babylon surveyed 38,806 people from its Healthcheck app to reveal which areas of Scotland consume the most units of alcohol per week on average.

East Dunbartonshire came out on top with an 8.2 units, ahead of Perth and Kinross where people drank 7.1 units on average and East Lothian with 6.5 units a week.

In terms of frequency tipplers in East Lothian, Stirling and the Scottish Borders came joint top of the list, having 2.8 drinking sessions every week.
