A number of Highland schools are closed today, ahead of the planned national shutdown.

Local schools currently closed or partially closed today are:

Charleston Academy (open to S4-6 only)

Daviot Primary

Drakies Primary and Nursery

St Clement's School and Nursery

Strathdearn Primary and Nursery

Glenurquhart Primary

Glen Urquhart High School

Alness Academy (open to S4-6 only)

Balnain Primary

Rosebank Primary Nursery

Craighill Primary

Knockbreck Primary

Yesterday Inverness Royal Academy also said it would be open to S4-6 pupils only.

It was confirmed earlier this week that all schools in Scotland are set to close from the end of today for an indefinite period.

Yesterday Education Secretary John Swinney confirmed that no school exams will take place this year but that free school meals will continue to be provided throughout the shutdown.

Highland Council is expected to provide details of what provisions it will be making throughout the shutdown period shortly.
