HIGHLAND Hospice is seeking more volunteers to help keep its fundraising miniature railway going full steam ahead.

Located at Whin Park, the popular railway ride is a fun experience for families that takes them on a scenic route at near the River Ness.

The attraction was established in 1983 and since April 2019 has been owned and operated by Highland Hospice.

Kepa Aristizabal, deputy manager tourism and e-commerce for the organisation, said: “We are reaching out for more volunteers to join our miniature railway team. It’s a lovely, rewarding and stress-free role where full training is given.

“Duties involve taking fees from passengers and making sure everyone is staying safe on their way round. After a while in the role volunteers will also be trained to drive the train, which is a lot of fun.

“We have just opened a brand new kiosk at the railway, which sells soft drinks and snacks, and there is also a role available in running this.”

The hospice is offering flexible roles where volunteers can do as much as they can manage.

During the summer the railway will be open from 11am to 4pm daily.
