Highland Hospice has received £250 from someone who wanted to thank them for the care they provided to her family.

In the run up to Christmas the Inverness Courier asked readers to submit pictures of their brightly decorated trees.

Our favourite won £250 to donate to the charity of their choice – with the prize going to Shelley Gill, who opted to give it to Highland Hospice.

The charity's corporate fundraiser, Karen Duff, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Shelley chose the hospice to benefit from her winnings.

"Her tree was stunning and we all think she was a very deserving winner.

"Having experienced our care first hand and also being a volunteer for us, Shelley knows how much we rely on the generosity of the public to keep our services running.

"Thanks so very much Shelley and hopefully we will see you before too long."
