An award-winning Highland care home operator has devised a cash incentive scheme to attract new nurses.

Parklands Care Homes, which operates nine homes at Muir of Ord, Fortrose, Tain, Grantown-on-Spey and locations across Moray, will offer a £2000 welcome bonus to new full-time nurses joining the organisation.

The aim is to recruit new staff from across the country amid a UK shortage of qualified nurses.

Parklands has also launched a ‘refer a friend’ bonus scheme for existing staff in a bid to encourage more people to work for them in the care sector.

Manuela Flueckiger, manager of people and culture at Parklands, said: “The UK has a severe shortage of nurses which means we have to compete to attract high calibre professionals.

“We want the best for our residents, after all, so for a limited time we’re offering a £2,000 welcome bonus for new nurses.

“Parklands operates in smaller, rural communities across the Highlands and Moray, areas with a limited pool of available and qualified staff.

“Our hope is that this incentive will encourage nurses in other parts of Scotland, and indeed from across the UK, to consider working in these beautiful locations and join our award-winning team.”

Parklands has earned a string of awards, including Most Outstanding Care Home Group and 'Best Smaller Care Home Group at national awards in 2020.
