Stagecoach services are set to increase from next week.

Stagecoach has announced a further expansion of services from next week, in line with the return of schools.

Services were cut back drastically during the coronavirus lockdown but have gradually increased to nearer normal levels as restrictions have eased.

Planned additional services from Monday do not apply only to school journeys, the firm says, but also to regular Inverness services and those berween the city and the Black Isle.

Additional buses will help maintain social distancing on board the network as the number of passengers increases the firm says.

David Beaton, managing director at Stagecoach Highland, said: "We have seen a slight increase in the number of people using our services as lockdown has eased and this timetable change will continue to provide plenty space for those travelling by bus to socially distance on board.

"I have been proud of the way our team has worked together over the last six months and I know all of our customers will have a warm welcome on a clean bus as our team will continue with our new daily procedures providing safe bus connections right across the Highlands."

For safety reasons Stagecoach is recommending passengers use contactless payment for journeys, or buy their ticket in advance using the Stagecoach mobile app.
