High Life Highland announces new chief executive
THE organisation responsible for running Highland leisure centres, libraries, swimming pools and more has appointed a new chief executive.
Steve Walsh is now into his second week with the High Life Highland (HLH), the region's largest charity and arms-length organisation responsible for running many council assets.
These include community centres, visitor attractions, sports halls, museums, health and wellbeing, swimming pools, libraries, entertainment venues and leisure centres – all of which provide a diverse range of activities and events for local people and visitors to the Highlands.
The new chief executive said: “I am really pleased to join High Life Highland, which has built strong foundations in its first eight years. I look forward to working with the team to lead and support its future growth and continued success in the provision of leisure, culture, and arts – particularly for those who most need support in order to maximise participation in our various activities and services.
“I am confident that High Life Highland will continue to go from strength to strength. I have been out and about across the whole of the area in my first two weeks and I have been extremely impressed by the energy and commitment of staff and volunteers and the positive focus on delivering outcomes and maximising the opportunities to add value for communities, businesses and visitors to the Highlands.”
Donald McLachlan, chairman of High Life Highland added: “We are delighted to welcome Steve to High Life Highland, his knowledge and skills fit with the aims and objectives of the charity and will support the board and management in taking HLH into its next phase of development as well as assisting in the continuation of building on our positive relationship as a trusted partner in the Highlands”.
High Life Highland’s new Chief Executive Officer has now taken to social media and will be regularly tweeting updates about HLH’s activities and services and how the Highland charity is represented across the Highlands and throughout Scotland.
