Walkers narrowly missed by falling tree.

Two walkers in Inverness had a lucky escape this morning when a large branch fell from a tree only 20 steps behind them.

The branch, about 20ft long from a sycamore tree, feel directly onto the path at MacDonald Park, Lochardil.

The walkers then called on help to remove the branch from the path.

The popular route near Drummond School is used by children attending both the primary and Inverness Royal Academy.

One woman who helped the walkers move the branch said: "It was very heavy, and we took a photo to show the council what needed to be moved."

The photo was posted to the Nextdoor app, asking for help to remove the tree.

Another eyewitness said it looked as though it had just fallen off the tree after a heavy night of wind, that continued into this morning.

On social media, one man said: "You never know when it is your time. These women had a very lucky escape."
