A82: Make it Safe

A petition asking the Scottish Government to act on improving the safety of the A82 has already been signed by more than 850 people.

The A82 Make it Safe campaign was launched to put pressure on Holyrood to make the trunk road route, a priority for long-term funding.

Over the weekend, readers have signed the petition, many of whom shared stories of the dangers of the road, and their safety fears.

Among them was Tracy Davidson, who stated: “My daughter Gemma, my son-in-law Rhys and my two grand-daughters Peyton and Heidi were caught out during bad weather on the A82 and sadly passed away on February 20, 2020.”

A message from Heather Foster stated: “I am signing this because I lost my 18-year-old son on February 24, 2019 on this road.”

Lynne Gillies said: “I am signing this petition because my good friend and workmate, lost his daughter, her husband and came both his grandchildren. Totally heartbreaking and do hope no other family goes through that pain of losing their loved ones on that road.”
