AN Inverness church will be back with a popular event to collect food and donations for a local charity.

St Stephen's Church will be organising a Harvest Fun Day on Saturday, October 1 from 2pm to 4pm.

On the day there will be fun for all the family with a bouncy castle and face painting for the kids and stalls for the adults, as well as many stalls of local craft producers.

There will also be a home baking stall with jams and chutneys and a vegetable stall, as well one selling a variety of plants for the garden.

Organiser Val Cantalay said: "We are delighted to hold a community event again. It is our first event involving Church and local people since the lockdown.

"We will have music in the Church and we will also be collecting food for the Foodbank in town.

"All money raised is for the Highland Foodbank and the 1668 Social Cafe on Church Street. Of course, we also ask everyone to bring non perishable goods like pasta, tins, UHT milk, sugar, and toiletries. We have always had a good response to this request and this year more than ever , there is such a need for food supplies."

The event will be free to attend and people will be able to take donations on the day.

The Church will be open open on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30 from 10am to 12pm for the public to drop of food supplies.

Items requested are tinned potatoes, corned beef/ham, mince/stew, custard/rice, pasta and sauces, tinned fruit and sugar, UHT milk, long life juices, and breakfast cereals, as well as toiletries and cleaning products.
