Winners of the Nairn and District Gardening Club’s 40th annual show have been named.

The event was staged at Nairn Community and Arts Centre.

Chairwoman Anne Vincent said: “It was a pleasure to see the hall packed with people admiring the splendid display of flowers, fruit and vegetables. As a result of the challenging weather conditions, there were fewer flower and vegetable entries.

“We were, however, very pleased to have a number of new exhibitors taking part. It was also good to see many more young gardeners putting imaginative entries in their section.”

The trophies were presented by Rod Gordon of John Gordon & Son, which was one of the event’s sponsors.

Kate Fraser, of Nairn, was awarded the best in show for her immaculately presented trug of vegetables.

Large bouquets of flowers were distributed to care homes in Nairn after the show to the delight of staff and residents.
