A NEW health centre is to be built in Drumnadrochit.

The Scottish Government has agreed to fund the project to the tune of £1.5 million.

NHS Highland purchased the current practice building from its GP owners in March 2009, but it is no longer fit for purpose and the health board has been exploring options for funding for some time.

The government has also agreed to make £1.5 million of improvements to Dingwall Health Centre.

The money for both projects will be made available over a three-year period, starting in 2013/14.

"I am delighted that the Scottish Government has made available the necessary funding for these projects," said Mid Highland Community Health Partnership manager Gill McVicar.
