Cradlehall Primary pupils and teachers earn free cinema experience at Vue Inverness after landing ‘Golden Ticket’ with Cinema First and Into Film
Two movie industry bodies have given 300 Inverness primary school pupils and teachers a ‘Golden Ticket’ free cinema visit.
Cross industry group Cinema First and Into Film, the UK’s leading charity for film in education and the community, are teaming up on a tour across the country.
The aim is to bring magical cinema experiences to young people across the UK.
Organisers say the tour is celebrating “one school at a time” among those who have shown their passion and commitment to film by being regular bookers of the Into Film Festival and its summer screenings.
On May 7, Cradlehall Primary School’s students and teachers were given that opportunity at Vue Inverness where they went to see Dog Man.
The tour has already crossed the UK from Dagenham in London to Enniskillen in Northern Ireland and has many more destinations in store.
A teacher from the Cradlehall Primary school said; "On behalf of everyone at the school, I would like to thank Into Film for the opportunity to view Dog Man.
“The children returned to school in great spirits and full of praise for the screening."
Into Film provides screen industry careers information and advice via school careers leads and directly to young people.
It aims to support and inspire young filmmakers and bring the power of moving image storytelling into classroom teaching by providing training and resources.
It also runs the annual Into Film Festival, which enables more than 400,000 pupils to visit the cinema for free, and the Into Film Awards - the UK’s leading showcase for young filmmaking talent.
The core Into Film programme is free for UK state schools, colleges and other youth settings thanks to support from the British Film Institute, National Lottery good cause funding, and through other funders including Cinema First and Northern Ireland Screen.
Cinema First is a cross-industry group representing cinema exhibition and distribution, charged with promoting and protecting the cinema-going experience.
Responsible for the allocation of funds generated by the Compare The Market: Meerkat Movies promotion, Cinema First has supported initiatives to improve children’s education and understanding of film and cinema, as well as raising public awareness about the importance of intellectual property and copyright protection.
Representing the whole industry, Cinema First is now a significant benefactor of Into Film through cash and in-kind commitments.
