Glasgow man fined after lashing out at police after Inverness nightspot incident

A festive night out in an Inverness nightspot for a Glasgow family ended with one of them spending at least one night in police cells.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that police were called to Johnny Foxes on the night of December 28, 2022 after a report of an incident and asked 25-year-old Jack Mitchell, of Sutcliffe Court, to leave the premises.

Fiscal depute Adele Gray said: "He refused to leave and the officer tried to escort him out. He began pushing his feet into the ground to push himself backwards, fell to the floor and then put his hands under his body to avoid being handcuffed.

"He was lashing out with his legs and continued to struggle with the four officers as he was placed in a police vehicle."

Mitchell admitted resisting arrest.

His lawyer, Natalie Paterson said: "The original incident involved another family member. He had consumer too much alcohol."

Sheriff Neil Wilson fined Mitchell £470.
