A POPULAR gin festival will be back this summer, it has been announced.

After a successful first event last summer, the Ness Gin Fest (formerly Ginverness), which is organised by the Inverness Ice Centre, will be back to entertain gin lovers on June 17.

Last year saw 500 tickets pre-sold over two sessions as well as many more sold at the entrance, with discounted group packages available.

Gordon Barron, CEO at Inverness Ice Centre, said: "Our inaugural event went incredibly well with great feedback from the exhibitors and visitors.

"The greatest complement and measure of the success is the early take off pitches from last year’s exhibitors/distillers to return this year. In addition, there have been many enquiries from other distilleries asking to be involved because they’d heard from last year’s exhibitors how good it was. Early ticket sales are strong also.

"We are a charity with purpose to provide ice sports to Inverness and surrounding area.

"To be able to continue to provide ice activities with the crippling increases in energy costs we have to be innovative and look at new fundraising opportunities.

"We have a series of events scheduled now over the late spring and early summer which success are vital to our future. Some are live now and others we will be launching over the coming few weeks."
