A neighbour who twice racially abused a Polish woman was fined a total of £610 when she appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court.

For a variety of reasons both legal and 33-year-old Anne-Marie Fraser's non-appearance, the case finally came to a conclusion after she was arrested on warrant for not turning up at a previous court hearing.

She admitted a course of racially aggravated conduct against the woman which occurred in Glendoe Terrace between July 20 and July 23, 2019 as well as one charge of failing to appear.

Fiscal depute Adele Gray told Sheriff Gary Aitken that Fraser, now of Bruce Gardens, Inverness walked up to the woman who was chatting to a friend and told her: "Get back to your own country."

Then three days later, Fraser approached the woman again.

Ms Gray said: "She was walking her dog when the accused lunged towards her and called her 'a Polish t***' and added: 'Get back to your own country' and said: 'I will f***ing get you the next time’.”

Defending, Duncan Henderson told the court that as Fraser had moved away from the area, there had been no further repetition.
