Inverness councillor says Northern Meeting Park gates in need of ‘TLC’ ahead of venue reopening after £5m refurbishment
An Inverness councillor has called for the gates at a city park undergoing a major refurbishment to be given “some TLC” before they reopen again to welcome visitors.
Councillor for Inverness South Duncan Macpherson noted the poor state of the metal gates at Northern Meeting Park, which is currently being refurbished.
The £5m redevelopment started in 2024 and is set to be complete in the coming weeks — after a temporary opening of the venue in May to host The Gathering Festival.
With works set to be soon concluded, councillor Macphherso said the gates will also be given attention as part of the renovation project.
He said: “I do hope that all the gates into the newly refurbished Northern Meeting Park in Inverness can be painted and refurbished as part of the multi-million pound project, to look their best before the official opening, as these gates installed in 2000 are looking in need of some TLC.
“In their current state, it doesn’t present a very good image and a great first impression of our beautiful city for all the thousands of tourists and visitors who arrive by coach and disembark alongside the main stand of the Northern Meeting Park on Ardross Street in the shadow of Inverness Cathedral.”
