ANOTHER Covid-19 test has come back positive in the Highlands - taking the region's overall total of confirmed coronavirus cases to 337.

The slight increase came as 55 new positive tests were recorded across Scotland as a whole. There have been 15,240 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country since the pandemic began.

The minor increase in confirmed Highland cases was mirrored by the number of people needing hospital treatment for the virus, which rose by one, to nine, last night.

This was not reflected at a national level, where 810 people were in hospital for confirmed Covid-19 last night _ 23 fewer people than the day before.

Nationally, 13 further fatalities have also been recorded among those who tested positive, to take that total to 2304.

In the north there were once again no new cases recorded on the Northern Isles or Outer Hebrides.

NHS Grampian registered six new positive tests, to take its overall tally to 1256. It's number of hospitalised Covid-19 cases also increased from 66 to 69.

NHS Tayside, meanwhile, registered two additional confirmed cases of the virus and now stands at 1661. Fourteen people who tested positive were being treated in its hospitals last night – up one on yesterday's figure.
