Seventeen fresh coronavirus cases reported across NHS Highland; news comes as Scotland detected 1212 new Covid-19 infections in past day
SEVENTEEN new Covid-19 infections have been detected across the NHS Highland area.
The region's cumulative number of confirmed cases increased from 1224 to 1241 on Thursday.
There were 1212 new positive tests across the whole of Scotland since yesterday's update.
The Scottish Government said 1207 people were being treated for the virus in hospital last night –- down 28 from the same time the previous day.
Of those, some 98 were receiving treatment in intensive care, up five.
And, sadly, a further 45 people who tested positive have since died.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were 54 new cases in NHS Grampian – which saw its overall total climb to 3760.
And NHS Tayside reported 73 newly-confirmed infections, for a cumulative tally of 4810.
There was also one new case apiece in NHS Orkney and NHS Eileanan Siar, which have now reported 35 and 70 infections respectively since the start of the pandemic. There were no new positive tests in NHS Shetland overnight.
Scotland has now detected 77,660 cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the global outbreak.
