YOUNGSTERS found out that learning can be fun when they took part in a range of hands-on activities as part of the Inverness Science Festival.

The practical sessions were held at the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Hub at the Inverness Campus on Monday, overseen by staff from the University of the Highlands and Islands and Aberdeen Science Centre.

This year’s festival, which began on April 29, ends tomorrow with two big free events for all the family.

From 10am-3pm the Scottish School of Forestry at Balloch will host an activity day for all ages and visitors will get a chance to build their own birdbox, try a range of bushcraft activities and learn how to identify different wildlife.

There will also be demonstrations of forestry machinery and various woodcrafts.

Inverness Leisure at Bught Park in Inverness will also host a family day from noon-4pm featuring more than 30 different science and technology activities.
