Fuel has hit nearly 180p per litre in some parts of Inverness, according to a leading petrol price comparison website.

Petrolprices.com is reporting that the Shell garage on Old Perth Road is selling unleaded at 170.9p per litre.

Meanwhile diesel is at 179p at the filling station following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The Inverness Courier investigated and found that those were the prices that were being advertised.

The situation in Ukraine – and the subsequent sanctions on Russia – has seen fuels prices spiral over recent days.

In comparison the average unleaded price in the Inverness area on February 28, 2022, was 151.14p for unleaded and 148.4p for diesel.
