The cumulative number of coronavirus cases across the Highlands has risen to 549 according to figures published today.

In Scotland as a whole, 350 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the past 24 hours.

That is up from Friday's update of 203.

The number of people in hospital with recently-confirmed coronavirus rose three to 64. Of those, nine were in intensive care last night. A further three deaths have also been reported from among those who had tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were three more cases reported in NHS Shetland and two more in NHS Orkney.

There was no increase in NHS Eileanan Siar.

NHS Grampian recorded 13 further cases, taking its cumulative total to 2078. And NHS Tayside's overall tally rose eight to 2255.

There have now been 24,126 confirmed cases of Covid-19 detected in Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.
