Four casualties taken to hospital after A9 accident south of Newtonmore

Four people have been taken to hospital after an accident this morning on the A9 south of Newtonmore.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash at the Raliabeag-Etteridge junction connecting the trunk road and B9150 at around 11am.

The A9 was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a two vehicle crash on the B9150 near the A9, Newtonmore at around 11am earlier today.

"Emergency services attended and four people were taken to hospital.

"The road has since re-opened."

The condition of the casualties is not yet known.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.07am today to reports of a road traffic collision near Ralia on the A9 involving two cars.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a community response unit to the scene, where firefighters assisted with the removal of a female casualty from one of the vehicles.

"She was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Crews left after making the area safe."

The fire appliances in attendance were from Aviemore and Kingussie. The community response unit was from Newtonmore.

There were reports of serious delays with traffic at a standstill at times whilst using the diversion via Newtonmore and Kingussie.
