Forty separate bus services across Inverness have been cancelled today as driver shortages continue to cause misery for Highland passengers.

Stagecoach Highland has warned that dozens of its planned journeys in the Highland capital will not run on Thursday due to “staff availability” issues.

Several routes have been badly affected by the cancellations, with the number 6 (which runs from the city centre to Hilton) and the number 1 (between Dalneigh and Balloch via the city centre) accounting for 30 of today’s 40 cancellations between them.

Elsewhere, there are six cancellations for the number 5 route between Queensgate and Hilton, three cancellations to the number 3 between Craig Dunain and Oakdene Park, and a single cancellation on the number 2, which serves Woodside Village.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “Due to driver availability the following services are unable to operate today. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
