POLICE received an anonymous tip-off that there was a drink-driver at the wheel of a van on the Black Isle.

Road worker Robert Goodwin (50), of High Street, Fortrose, was tracked down in Avoch on May 29 and stopped for a breath check.

It revealed he was almost seven times the drink-drive limit of 22mcgs of alcohol. His reading was 143mcgs.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told he had been at a retirement party.

Goodwin was fined £840 and banned from driving for 18 months. However, if he successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation scheme he will get an 18-week discount from his driving ban.
