Former Rangers football player who lived in Inverness dies

A FORMER Glasgow Rangers and Highland League footballer who lived in Balloch has died at a care home in Forres.

John Valentine played for Queens Park and Rangers and also played Highland League football with Buckie Thistle.

Aged 88, his family were at his bedside when he passed away on Sunday at Meadowlark Care Home.

After his football career he worked with the Department of Agriculture where he held the posts of senior and chief land officer.

His funeral takes place on Monday at 11.30am at the funeral home of William T Fraser in Culduthel Road, Inverness.
