A 30-year-old man from Inverness who had been missing for over a week has been found safe and well, according to police.

Highland League footballer Richard Finnis from Kinmylies was previously last seen at around 1.20pm on Saturday, February 16 in Kinmylies Way.

Extensive police searches have been carried out throughout the week, with the force asking for help but warning people not to go near him.

This evening a police spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that Richard Finnis, who had been reported missing from the Inverness area, has been traced safe and well.

"Extensive police searches were undertaken and Richard was traced by our specialist dog unit.

"Police Scotland would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter."

It is not clear where Mr Finnis was found. Police found his car in a parking area just to the east of Cannich on Monday evening.
