Firefighters extinguish blaze at a home at Bridgeview Drive, Merkinch, in Inverness

Firefighters used breathing apparatus as they tackled a fire in a flat in Merkinch last night.

Three fire appliances, two ambulances and an ambulance response vehicle attended the blaze at Bridgeview Drive with the alarm raised just before 10pm.

It has not yet been confirmed whether or not anyone was present in the flat or required medical treatment.

Police also assisted with traffic management at the scene.

A Scottish Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We attended a fire at a first floor flat at seven minutes to 10pm last night.

“The fire was brought under control by 10.24 pm.

“Three appliances attended, with four breathing apparatus used, as well as one hose reel jet and two mini jets.”
