CHRISTMAS fundraising by Nairn firefighters has generated enough money to buy another community defibrillator.

The Santa's Sleigh initiative – where firefighters brought Santa to streets around the town – said Auldearn would get the potentially life-saving kit.

In a statement on its Facebook page, a spokesman said: "We would like to announce that due to the generosity of the community in donating to the Santa Sleigh over the festive period, we can now confirm that Auldearn will be receiving a defibrillator. More details to come regarding the location of the unit and start date.

"This is the second defibrillator which has been funded by the community. The first being the one located on the outside of the fire station and this has previously been required during an incident close by. This shows how important and helpful these bits of kits are to our community.

"More information is to come regarding the local charities who are going to benefit from the funds raised during last year's Santa Sleigh.

"Once again all of us at Nairn Santa’s Sleigh would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the generosity shown by you all when we’re out there with the sleigh."
