Firefighters were called out to Inverness city centre this morning.

The alarm was raised at 10.44am after concerns were raised over some loose slates on the Town House in the High Street.

They were able to leave the scene by 11.22am after their removal.

A Highland Council spokesman said: “The city centre Police Scotland Team stopped traffic and pedestrians for approximately 15 minutes while loose tiles were removed from the front of the Town House.

"The area will be restricted for pedestrians until Building Standards have carried out an inspection and deem it safe. Pedestrian diversions are in place until this assessment has been completed. A roofing contractor is being instructed to carry out necessary repairs”
