An Inverness secondary school has been forced to send pupils home after a fire alarm sounded.

The cause of the activation could not be found, so the decision was taken to close the school just after 11 am.

The school day usually ends at 12.30 pm on Fridays.

A text alert to parents read: “Due to fire alarm and not being able to track the source of fire, pupils will be sent home with immediate effect.”

Third year pupils at the school had already been kept at home today due to ongoing teacher shortages related to Covid-19 illness.
