A passenger in a vehicle stopped by police admitted a knuckle-duster was his when it was found by officers.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard police's attention was drawn to the vehicle in the city's Thornbush Road on July 22 because it had a faulty brake light.

Officers followed the car into the city’s Quayside Court where they stopped it.

The knuckle-duster was in the rear seat storage compartment and Brian Emslie (23), of Evan Barron Road, Inverness, told officers it was his.

Solicitor Clare Russell said Emslie had lost his job as a result of the offence.

“He was out with his friends and forgot he had it with him,” she said.
