Only Child series 2 film crew spotted in Nairn
Nairn’s harbour was the backdrop for a bit of TV magic this week as filming took place for the second series of BBC Scotland’s Only Child.
Stars Gregor Fisher and Greg McHugh were spotted at the beachfront and Harbour Car Park yesterday, as cast and crew transformed the seaside town into a film set.
Locals quickly noticed the familiar fluorescent ‘Unit’ signs and stopped by to see what was happening. Among them was Ali Ross, a Nairn resident who works in the film industry.
He said: “Because I work in the industry I knew something must be going on, so went for a nosey.”
After speaking to members of the crew, Mr Ross learned that the shoot was for the second series of the show, which is set in Forres.
The day of filming in Nairn was made even more special by a few surprise visitors.
“Dolphins and a seal had appeared just off the harbour,” Mr Ross said. “The cast and crew were delighted!”
He added that it was “nice to see the town being used as a TV location.”
Only Child, which is set in Forres, first aired on BBC Scotland in 2024 and stars Fisher and McHugh in a heartfelt comedy-drama exploring family, connection and life in the north of Scotland.
Filming is expected to continue in Forres following the Nairn shoot.
