A FIELD fire not far from the A9 sparked a call-out of fire crews in Invergordon this evening.

The fire, in a field near the Skiach services in Easter Ross, was reported shortly after 8pm.

Both of Invergordon's fire pumps were called to the scene.

A spokesman for Invergordon Fire Station said: "Both pumps were mobilised to a field on fire near Skiach services. The fire was in a field of stubble and was being fanned by strong winds.

"Crews used beaters and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire."
