A FAULT sparked a power outage at dozens of homes to the south of Inverness this morning (Monday).

Scottish and Southern Electricty Networks (SSEN) confirmed the outage shortly after 10.40am.

It is known to have affected properties in 11 separate postcodes, most of which are in IV3 and are centred around the Dochgarroch area.

SSEN said its engineers were on site making repairs and added that they hoped to restore power by 2pm.

"We’re sorry for the loss of supply," said a spokesman. "We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

"If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'GC5629'."
