Far North Line afternoon service between Inverness and Wick cancelled due to illness

The Far North Line service from Inverness to Wick have been cancelled this afternoon due to “illness”, ScotRail has confirmed.

The rail operator confirmed that the 2pm service from Inverness, scheduled to arrive in Wick at 6.22pm will not run due to a train conductor having “taken ill”.

Alternative coach travel has been arranged for commuters affected by the cancellation.

A statement from the rail operator said: “14:00 Inverness to Wick due 18:22 will be cancelled. This is due to the train conductor being taken ill.

“We have arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes at no extra cost.

“Due to the use of road transport your journey time will be extended and we apologise for the disruption to your journey on this route.”
