A Clach fan with a lifelong involvement with the club has presented a cheque for more than £7000 to help get them back to their home ground.

Clachnacuddin FC was devastated by a fire which started on Christmas Eve and they were unable to host home fixtures at Grant Street Park.

However, temporary changing facilities have since been set up and they played their first home game last week.

Billy Corbett set up a personal collection and he managed to raise more than £7000 to help cover the cost of the temporary arrangements – when combined with a separate collection set up by the club's supporters' trust the total collected by fans was more than £9000.

Mr Corbett, who has been involved with the club in various roles throughout his life, handed the cheque over to team manager sandy McLeod this week and said: "It feels great. He was telling me the facilities until the end of the season are quite pricey."

He wound up his appeal on Sunday after he completed a fun run event which was part of the Inverness Half Marathon event and said was surprised to have raised so much in just a few weeks but he wanted to help the club he had a lifetime involvement and enjoyment from.
