Police arrested a convicted sex offender on suspicion of watching children as he prepared to go swimming in Loch Morlich three days after being released from prison.

But as Scott Murray (36) was being transported from Aviemore to Inverness on October 5 last year, he protested his innocence, made threats towards officers and made an indecent remark to one of them by threatening to expose himself.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard Murray, of Friars Street, Inverness, was never taken to court for the voyeurism charge, but charged with threatening behaviour and communicating indecently with the police officer.

Murray admitted both offences and solicitor Willie Young told Sheriff Sara Matheson: “The remarks were borne out of frustration at something that was not substantiated in any way. He has been remanded in custody since October 11 and has no outstanding cases.”

Murray received a four-month jail sentence backdated to October 11 and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
