Former Highland councillor Alistair Milne has died, aged 92.

He was a representative for the Ballifeary and Dalneigh areas of Inverness, where he lived most of his life.

Current councillors and local authority staff are saddened by his death last Friday.

A council spokeswoman said: "Alistair made an exceptional contribution to local government, serving on Inverness Town Council (1967-75), Inverness District Council (1975-96), Highland Regional Council (1975-96), and laterally the Highland Council from 2003 to 2007."
